ADVANCED REGENERATIVE HEALING TECHNIQUE: PRF

Everyone wants to heal faster and one advancement in dentistry is the preparation of Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF). Basically, it is the use of a small amount of the patient’s own blood to create a concentrate of fibrin that is then applied to the healing area. It is a safe option for patients and Roy Dental produces your own PRF on-site.

The benefits of PRF include:
  • speeds up the healing process
  • results in less post-operative discomfort

Wikipedia: The application Platelet-Rich Fibrin

Patients with blood clotting disorders may not be unable to take advantage of the PRF treatment.

DIGITAL DENTISTRY (X-RAYS & 3D SCANS)

X-rays can help dentists find hidden dental structures, malignant or benign masses, bone loss and cavities. Digital radiography is a form of X-ray imaging that uses digital X-ray sensors instead of traditional photographic film. At Roy Dental, we are continually incorporating digital technology to our practice for patient care. Our advanced digital x-rays allow us to diagnose cavities and other problems with your teeth, jaw joints, and sinuses.

Benefits of digital x-rays:
  • less radiation exposure and more comfortable for the patient
  • immediate, high-resolution imagery that delivers superb detail

Patients who tend to gag appreciate our CT scanner. It not only displays your teeth in 3D, but does so without sensors in your mouth.

Benefits of a CT scanner:
  • immediate diagnostic help;
  • allows you to see your entire teeth and jaw bone structure in rotatable, three dimensional views

Our intraoral scanner can create 3D models of your teeth without any impression materials, easing your experience at the dental office.

DENTAL IMPLANTS & BONE GRAFTING

Dental implants can replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, or even support dentures. They function like the roots of the teeth, with a small metal post going into the jawbone to anchor teeth. Roy Dental has extensive advanced training in implant dentistry and both Dr. Charles Roy and Dr. Patrick Roy are fellows of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Benefits of dental implants:
  • Strong, stable and long-lasting – a better long term investment
  • Looks natural and will not interfere with talking and eating (unlike dentures)

The American Academy of Implant Dentistry: The benefits of implants over other treatments

The Canadian Dental Association: How implants are done

In order to ensure the successful placement of a dental implant, they must be positioned in areas where there is enough bone to support them. If the jawbone is not high or wide enough, you may need a bone graft. A bone graft is a surgical procedure where the dentist adds bone, or bone-like material, to increase the volume of the jawbone. At Roy Dental, we will work with you to determine if implants are right for you and will fully guide and support you through any required bone grafting procedures.

Benefits of dental bone grafting:
  • Ensures the bone is large enough
  • Corrects deformity or low jawbone volume, to allow for adequate implant placement

SNORING & SLEEP APNEA TREATMENT

Snoring happens during sleep when your tongue and throat muscles relax and flutter as you try to breath—basically it’s an obstruction of the free flow of air through the breathing passages. If your family says you snore every night and loudly, then it’s time to consult Roy Dental.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a more serious condition. While you nap or sleep, if you have frequent episodes where you stop breathing for about 10 seconds or more and then gasp for air or make choking sounds before recovering, then consult your doctor for a sleep study. Untreated, OSA increases the risk of developing heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and many other medical problems.

Benefits of Sleep Apnea Treatment
  • consultation may reveal an underlying health issue
  • improves overall well-being as a result of more restful sleep
